Boys’ Basketball Topples No. 1 Seed Wauseon in Division II District Semifinals, 65-59

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team toppled No. 1 seed Wauseon, 65-59, in the Division II district semifinals on Thursday on the campus of Lake High School. With the impressive postseason triumph, CCHS improves to 11-14 on the season.

The Scarlet & Gray utilized a strong 3rd period against the Indians to extend its winning streak to a season-high 5-consecutive games. They outscored Wauseon 14-9 in the pivotal quarter to assume a lead they would not relinquish and help them advance to the district finals for the 4th-straight year. 

The No. 5 seed Fighting Irish will return to the hardwood against No. 2 seed Scott in the district finals of Northwest 1 District – Millbury of the OHSAA State Tournament on Saturday, March 9 at 6 p.m. at Lake. Tickets are currently available at www.ohsaa.org/tickets.

Sophomore Draden Wardrop led CCHS with 18 points, followed closely by classmate Manny Johnson and senior Isaiah Brenneman with 16 and 10 points, respectively.

Tyson Rodriguez paced the Indians (13-10) with a game-high 20 points, while Trey Parsons contributed 12 points.
