Brooklyn Vaughn Named Student of the Month for February

Senior Brooklyn Vaughn is a member of the National Honor Society, student council, the girls’ basketball team, and the track & field team, and she is a retreat leader.  Outside of Central Catholic, she plays travel basketball and enjoys reading.  She also spends time driving her brother, CCHS sophomore Sharard Vaughn III, to and from many of his activities.

Brooklyn scored her 1,000th career point on February 13 in the basketball team’s victory over Notre Dame Academy in the semifinals of the Catholic High School League (CHSL) Central Division Tournament.  A 2023-24 All-Catholic selection, Brooklyn finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds against the Eagles, posting her 10th double-double of the season.  She was also named All-District 7 D-II Player of the Year for the 2nd-straight season.

“I chose to attend Central Catholic because of the diversity and high academic standards,” said Brooklyn, a 2-time All-Ohio selection.  “The best thing about CCHS is the different types of people you unexpectedly become friends with.”

“Brooklyn is a very sweet individual,” said Julie Saba, Central Catholic math teacher and department chair.  “She always says hello and will stop and help others if needed.  She is in honors classes and plays sports, so her schedule is very busy, but you would not know it with her positive attitude every day.  Brooklyn is a great example for all students.”

After graduation, Brooklyn will attend Loyola University Chicago, where she has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Ramblers.  She will major in psychology and hopes to become a forensic psychologist.
