Girls’ Basketball Beats St. Marys Memorial in District Final, 53-39

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team claimed a 53-39 victory against St. Marys Memorial on Saturday in the Division II District Final at Paulding High School. With the neutral-site triumph, CCHS improves to 24-1 on the season.

Junior Jai’Lynne Hitt-Swartz knocked down a game-high four three-point field goals and finished with 18 points to pace the top-seeded Fighting Irish.

Sophomore Brooklyn Vaughn also contributed 11 points in the win over the No. 4 seed Roughriders, helping the 2021-22 Three Rivers Athletic Conference champions secure their first district title since 2016.

CCHS will return to the hardwood against Bishop Hartley on Tuesday, March 1 at 6 pm in the “Sweet 16” at Mansfield Senior High School.
