Central Catholic Celebrates “College Decision Day” for Top 3 Academic Students

Central Catholic High School celebrated its top 3 academic students as they made their college choices on May 1.  This event gave our top students an opportunity to reveal their college choices in front of family and friends and be honored for their academic success.

The following students participated in this event and selected the school they will attend from their top 3 college choices:

Max Shelton - Valedictorian
Colleges: Miami University (Ohio), University of Notre Dame, University of Tennessee
Max will attend the University of Tennessee to major in business.

Max chose Tennessee because of the feel of the campus and how comfortable he was when he visited.  “I met a lot of students and teachers, and everyone was so nice and made me feel at home,” he said.  “The atmosphere just feels right in so many ways.”

Will Rudski - Salutatorian
Colleges: University of Dayton, University of Michigan, University of Notre Dame
Will chose to attend the University of Notre Dame, where he will major in pre-health and Spanish.  His goal is to become a physical therapist.

Will decided to attend Notre Dame because of its competitive academics and the spirit and community he felt on campus.  “Notre Dame is such a special place, and they made me feel special as well,” he explained.  “I wanted to go to a school that will challenge me academically and that really feels like a community.  It’s a lot like Central Catholic in that way.”

Eve Anderson - Heritage Speaker (3rd in class academically)
Colleges: Johns Hopkins University, University of Michigan, University of Minnesota
Eve will attend the University of Michigan.  Her major is undecided, but she will study dance at the UM School of Music, Theatre & Dance.  “I was looking at the quality of the dance program at the schools, their repertoire, and I’m happy they offer the opportunity for a dual degree so I can major in dance along with something else.”

National College Decision Day, also known as College Signing Day, is the first day of May each year.  On this day, high school seniors who applied and were accepted into one or more colleges must confirm their enrollment with the school of their choice.  This confirmation is usually attached to an enrollment deposit.
