Central Catholic High School Advent Pilgrimage to Take Place at Rosary Cathedral on Dec. 21

Central Catholic High School students, faculty, and staff will make their annual Advent Pilgrimage to Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral to celebrate Mass on Wednesday, Dec 21.  This tradition began in 1973 and is an opportunity for the entire Irish family to come together in a most sacred place as we prepare for Christmas.

The procession will begin on the front sidewalk of the school at 11:30 am.  The procession will be led by administrators and student leaders across Cherry Street, down Rosalind Place to Melrose Avenue, and then to Rosary Cathedral at 2535 Collingwood Blvd.

Parents, families, alumni, and friends are invited to join the procession and celebrate Mass.  Fr. Jeff McBeth, pastor of St. John XXIII, will be presiding and preaching at the Mass, which is scheduled to begin at Noon.  Msgr. William Kubacki (CCHS Class of 1970), Msgr. Walter (Tad) Oxley, and Fr. Scott Woods (CCHS Class of 1999) will be concelebrating.

"The Advent Pilgrimage and Mass at Rosary Cathedral is a tradition started by the Central Catholic Class of 1974,” explained Fr. David Kidd, Central Catholic’s Priest Leader.  “The tradition speaks to our strong bond with the bishop and the Cathedral, as Central Catholic is the former ‘Cathedral School.’  The tradition shows our solidarity with the people of our neighborhood, then and now, and a desire for peace in our streets, in our schools, and in our homes.  A peace that, in the end, only the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, can deliver."
