Central Catholic Senior Adeline Reed Earns Girl Scout Gold Award
Central Catholic High School senior Adeline Reed has earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio recently announced. Reed is 1 of 37 Senior and Ambassador Girls Scouts to complete and collect this prestigious award.
Gold Award Girl Scouts are the dreamers and the doers who take "make the world a better place" to the next level. The Gold Award is the mark of the truly remarkable - proof that not only can she make a difference, but that she already has.
Girl Scouts who earn the Gold Award tackle issues that are dear to them and drive lasting change in their communities and beyond. A minimum of 80 hours must be given to the chosen project.
For her project, "Children's Garden Renovation,” Reed revamped the deteriorating children's garden at Toledo GROWS. She combined her love of education and her love of nature to build new beds for vegetables, informational signs, and interactive displays in her children's garden.
“Earning the Gold Award means the world to me,” Reed said. “It shows me that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to. I renovated a children’s garden which took the whole summer. This project showed me the impact doing good things can have on the community. I enjoyed working with Toledo GROWS, and I’m so thankful they let me complete my project with them!”
Reed will garner her recognition at the Gold Award Ceremony on Sunday, March 5 at Sinclair Community College.
