Central Catholic Set to Host Mayor’s Cup on June 25 as Part of Italian Bowl Festivities

Central Catholic High School will host the “Mayor’s Cup” on Sunday, June 25 at 1 pm in Gallagher Stadium in conjunction with Italian Bowl XLII.  The inaugural event is FREE to attend and will feature tailgating, children’s activities, food trucks, and other entertainment.  

City of Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz has invited NW Ohio/SE Michigan mayors to participate in a skills competition on the campus of CCHS.  The competition, which is being presented by 4th and Goal Athletics, will be televised live on BCSN. 

Currently, the mayors from Findlay, Perrysburg, Defiance, Northwood, Port Clinton, Rising Sun, Tontogany (Matt Shanahan, Class of 1990), Clay Center, Waterville (Tim Pedro, Class of 1974), Millbury, Rossford, Lima, and Luna Pier have committed to the event.  The winner will take home the Mayor’s Cup to be presented during the Italian Bowl halftime festivities.

The Italian Bowl will take place on Saturday, July 1 at the Glass Bowl on the campus of The University of Toledo at 3 pm.  The game will mark the 1st time in Italian Football League (IFL) history that Italy’s national championship will be played outside of Europe.
