Central Catholic to Induct 38th Class into Athletic Hall of Fame This Fall

Central Catholic High School will induct 11 individual members and 2 teams into its Athletic Hall of Fame on Sept. 18 at the Parkway Place in Maumee.

This will be the 38th class to be inducted into the CCHS Athletic Hall of Fame.  The 1st inductee was Frank Gilhooley, Class of 1942, in 1981.

Sharise Calhoun l Class of 2008
* 4-year letterwinner in basketball and track & field
* Honorable mention All-Ohio during 2007-08 basketball season
* 1st-team All-District as a senior captain
* 1st-team All-City in 2007-08
* Selected MVP in the 2008 Ohio-Indiana Girls' Basketball Game after scoring 25 points
* 2-time City League champion in 100- and 300-meter hurdles
* Placed 1st in 300-meter hurdles at Regional Championship as a senior
* Finished 3rd in 300-meter hurdles at the 2008 State Championship
* Member of City League champion in 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay as a junior
* Named the 2007 City League Championship “Top Female” performer
* Top 5 finalist for Homecoming Queen as a senior
* 4-year letterwinner in basketball at Oakland University (2008-12)
* Earned honorable mention All-Summit League accolades as a junior during the 2010-11 campaign
* Finished her collegiate career with 1,034 points, 474 rebounds, 250 assists, and 171 steals
* Started 106 of 119 career games with the Golden Grizzlies

Andre George
 l Class of 2001
* 3-year letterwinner in track & field
* Team captain as a senior
* Set school record in 300-meter hurdles and high jump
* Won individual City League titles in the high jump and 300-meter hurdles
* Captured CL championships as member of 2 relay teams
* Finished 9th in 300-meter hurdles at State Championship
* Received athletic scholarship to Bowling Green State University in track & field
* 2-year letterwinner in football
* All-District selection as a senior
* Led team in receiving yards in 2000
* Helped football post an 8-3 record in 2000 and defeat St. John’s Jesuit in CL Hall of Fame Game

Harry Hart Class of 1958
* Earned varsity letters in baseball and basketball
* Helped baseball win City League and Sectional titles as a senior, posting a 15-3 overall record
* Batted .636 in 1958, which was a state record at the time, and currently ranks as the 21st-highest batting average in a single season in OHSAA history
* Hit .500 as a junior

Joe Kruzel l Class of 1984
* 4-year letterwinner in baseball and basketball
* Helped baseball capture a regional championship in 1982 and advance to the state semifinals for the only time in program history
* Batted .378 (34-for-95) and 12 RBI as a senior team captain
* 1st-team All-City in 1984
* 1st-team All-District as a senior
* Selected team’s “Mr. Defense” in 1984
* Led baseball to a 3rd-straight Red Division title with a 22-5 overall record in 1984
* Named starter in the Metro Coach’s Association All-Star Game
* Hit .326 with 27 RBI as a junior
* Guided team to 2nd-consecutive Red Division title in 1983
* 2-year basketball starter at guard on teams that had a combined record of 32-11
* Honorable mention All-City as a senior
* Broke the school record for assists in a single season (96) as a junior
* 4-year letterwinner in baseball at The University of Toledo (1985-88) and later served as UToledo’s head baseball coach (1993-2003)
* Tallied 259 wins in 11 years at UToledo, the 3rd-highest total in program history
* Named Mid-American Conference (MAC) Coach of the Year in 1999

Erin Seiler l Class of 2012
* 3-year letterwinner in softball
* 1st-team All-Ohio as a senior captain
* Named Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC) Pitcher of the Year in 2012
* Helped softball secure TRAC championship in 2012, posting 20-7 overall record and 14-3 league mark
* 1st-team All-TRAC in 2012
* Graduated as 1 of only 18 pitchers in OHSAA history to record at least 1,000 career strikeouts

Keith Towbridge Class of 2013
* 3-year letterwinner in football and basketball
* 1st-team All-District in 2012
* 1st-team All-TRAC Tight End as a senior
* Special mention All-Ohio in 2012
* 2nd-team All-TRAC Tight End as a junior
* 2-time All-TRAC in basketball
* Helped basketball advance to state ‘Final Four’ for 1st time since 1949 during 2010-11 season 

2002-03 Girls’ Basketball Team
* City League and Sectional champions
* Final Associated Press Ohio state poll champions
* Squad finished with a 23-1 overall record, beginning the year with a 23-game winning streak

2012 Football Team
* Team posted a 14-1 overall mark, 6-1 in the TRAC, winning the Division II state championship
* Outscored opponents, 173-55, in 5 postseason games
