Girls’ Basketball Tops TRAC Power Notre Dame Academy, 42-33

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team secured a huge 42-33 victory against Notre Dame Academy on Thursday in the Sullivan Center. With the impressive home win, CCHS improves to 10-0 overall, 6-0 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.

The unbeaten Fighting Irish outscored the Eagles 25-15 in the second half to register its first victory against the 10-time reigning TRAC champions since 2015.

Sophomore Emily Baer paced Central Catholic with 10 points, followed closely by classmate Brooklyn Vaughn and senior Brinn Hunt with nine and eight points, respectively.

Sydney Orians led the visiting Eagles (4-5, 2-3 TRAC) with seven points.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS junior varsity squad suffered a 35-18 setback against NDA.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against TRAC rival Whitmer on Monday, Jan. 10. Junior varsity will get the action started at 5 pm in the Whitmer Field House, followed by varsity at 6:30 pm.
