“Colton Strong Kids Night” Set for Girls’ Basketball Game on February 5
Central Catholic will hold “Colton Strong Kids Night” at the girls’ basketball game vs. Notre Dame Academy on Wednesday, February 5. The varsity contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Sullivan Center. The Stanley family has created Colton Strong Kids, an organization to support area children who are fighting pediatric cancer. At the game, the family, along with students from CCHS Sideline Spirit, will be selling raffle tickets for $1 each to win several prize baskets. The raffle baskets have been donated by Central Catholic’s faculty and staff. They will also be collecting gift cards and monetary donations for the organization.
Colton Strong Kids is dedicated to being a beacon of hope and strength for families navigating the challenging journey of childhood cancer. Its mission is to alleviate the financial burdens that accompany a cancer diagnosis, allowing families to focus on what truly matters - caring for their children. Colton Strong Kids provides comprehensive grants, programs, and assistance initiatives to offer the necessary support to help families navigate this difficult period with resilience and optimism.
Colton Stanley is the 5-year-old son of former Central Catholic teacher and head girls’ basketball coach, Corri Stanley (Class of 2003), who has been fighting T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma.
"Central Catholic is so excited to dedicate our February 5 girls’ basketball game to a cause near and dear to our hearts - Colton Strong Kids,” said CCHS Principal, Morgan (Delp) Connors (Class of 2011). “It's amazing what the Stanley family has done in taking a really tragic situation and now creating hope and support for others in their shoes. It is a testament to the power of a good deed - its ripple effects continue far beyond what we can see. We hope Central Catholic and Notre Dame Academy fans will donate gift cards or cash and purchase raffle tickets that evening, with all proceeds benefiting area families faced with pediatric cancer."
