Football Blanks Olentangy Orange in Non-Conference Finale, 28-0

The Central Catholic football game wrapped up non-conference play with an impressive 28-0 victory at Olentangy Orange on Friday in Lewis Center. With the dominating win, the Fighting Irish improved to 1-2 on the season.

It was CCHS’s first shutout since a 48-0 home triumph vs. Sylvania Northview in the opening round of the 2020 OHSAA Division II State Playoffs on Oct. 16.

Junior QB Ty’Waun Clark registered three of Central Catholic’s four touchdowns against the Pioneers (0-3). Clark, who completed 18-of-23 passes for a season-high 236 yards, was credited with a four-yard TD run and a pair of TD passes to senior WR Sam Lee, covering 21 and three yards, respectively.

Senior RB Josh Watson accounted for the Fighting Irish’s other TD, scoring from four yards out in the third period. Watson, who carried the ball 20 times and posted a season-high 88 yards, has found the endzone in two of the three games this fall.

Lee, who reeled in two TD passes from Clark, finished with a game-high seven catches for a season-best 117 yards. The senior receiver has recorded a TD reception in each of the last two contests.

Defensively, senior LB Chris Jackson totaled a squad-best 6.0 stops, including a contest-high 2.0 tackles-for-loss.

CCHS returns to action on Friday, Sept. 10 when it hosts Findlay (2-1) in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
