Football Blanks Rival St. John’s Jesuit to Extend Winning Streak, 38-0

The Central Catholic football team extended its winning streak to three-consecutive games with an impressive 38-0 triumph against rival St. John’s Jesuit on Friday at Lyden Field. With the shutout victory, the Fighting Irish improve to 3-2 overall, 2-0 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.

During its unbeaten stretch, CCHS has defeated Olentangy Orange, Findlay and St. John’s by a combined score of 107-6.

Central Catholic, the three-time reigning TRAC champions, posted 364 yards of offense to collect its sixth-straight win vs. the Titans (2-2, 0-2 TRAC). The Scarlet & Gray was equally impressive defensively, limiting SJJ to three first downs and 62 total yards. They also held the home team to only one third-down conversion and forced three turnovers.

Offensively, junior QB Ty’Waun Clark completed 12 of 21 passes for 223 yards with three TDs. Senior RB Josh Watson tallied a game-high 61 yards on the ground with one score, followed closely by junior RB Chris Edmonds with 52 yards and one TD. Senior WR Sam Lee was Clark’s favorite target on the perimeter, hauling in two passes for 125 yards, including a 70-yard TD.

The Fighting Irish will return to the field against Lima Senior (3-1, 2-0 TRAC) on Friday, Sept. 24. The opening kick against the Spartans on Homecoming is scheduled for 7 pm at Gallagher Stadium.
