Football Entertains TRAC Co-Leader Lima Senior on Friday as Part of Homecoming Weekend

The Central Catholic football team will host Lima Senior (3-1, 2-0 TRAC) on Friday, Sept. 24 in a battle for first place in the ultra-competitive Three Rivers Athletic Conference. The opening kick against the Spartans on Homecoming is scheduled for 7 pm at Gallagher Stadium.

The Fighting Irish (3-2, 2-0 TRAC) and Lima Senior are two of four TRAC teams with a perfect 2-0 league ledger, along with Fremont Ross (5-0, 2-0 TRAC) and Whitmer (4-1, 2-0 TRAC).

CCHS is coming off an impressive 38-0 road triumph against rival St. John’s Jesuit (2-2, 0-2 TRAC) on Friday to extend its winning streak to three-consecutive games. During this unbeaten stretch, the Scarlet & Gray has defeated Olentangy Orange, Findlay and St. John’s by a combined score of 107-6.

Central Catholic, the three-time reigning TRAC champions, posted 364 yards of offense to collect its sixth-straight win vs. the Titans. The Irish was equally impressive defensively in posting their second shutout this fall, limiting SJJ to three first downs and 62 total yards. They also held St. John’s Jesuit to 1 of 12 on third down and forced three turnovers.

Offensively, junior QB Ty’Waun Clark completed 12 of 21 passes for 223 yards with three touchdowns. Over the last three games, Clark is 46-of-63 passing for 690 yards with eight TDs and no interceptions.

Senior RB Josh Watson added a game-high 61 yards on the ground with one score, followed closely by junior RB Chris Edmonds with 52 yards and one TD. Senior WR Sam Lee was Clark’s favorite target on the perimeter, reeling with two passes for a game-high 125 yards and one TD.

Clark is currently third in the TRAC in completions (71), TDs passes (9) and passing yards (915), Lee is third in receiving yards (467) and yards per catch (21.2), fifth in receptions (22) and tied for fifth in TDs scored (6) and Watson fifth in rushing yards (320) and seventh in TDs scored (5).

CCHS will be looking for its 11th-straight victory against Lima Senior. A season ago, the Fighting Irish secured a resounding 55-0 home triumph. All but two of Central Catholic’s wins during this stretch have been by at least 30 points.

The Spartans enter Friday’s matchup on the heels of a 28-13 victory vs. Oregon Clay (2-3, 0-2 TRAC) and a 7-6 win against St. John’s Jesuit to open TRAC play.

The Fighting Irish will return to the field against Clay on Friday, Oct. 1. The opening kick against the Eagles is scheduled for 7 pm at Clay Memorial Stadium. In conjunction with next Friday’s matchup, Clay will host BCSN Real Men Wear Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
