Football Dominates TRAC Co-Leader Lima Senior on Homecoming, 43-12
The Central Catholic football team stretched its winning streak to four-consecutive games with an impressive 43-12 triumph against Lima Senior on Friday in Gallagher Stadium. With the homecoming victory, the Fighting Irish improve to 4-2 overall, 3-0 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.
In a battle of TRAC co-leaders, CCHS jumped out to a 37-0 halftime lead against the Spartans (3-2, 2-1 TRAC) and was never threatened in the second half. During this unbeaten stretch, the Scarlet & Gray has defeated Olentangy Orange, Findlay, St. John’s Jesuit and Lima Senior by a combined score of 150-18.
Senior RB Josh Watson carried the load offensively this evening, finishing with 76 yards and a season-high three TDs. Watson scored on runs of 32, 7 and 1 yards.
Junior QB Ty’Waun Clark was also efficient throwing the pigskin, completing 9 of 14 passes for 169 yards and one TD. Clark was credited with a 9-yard TD pass to senior WR Josh Lee and a 10-yard rushing score.
In addition, sophomore WR/DB Marvon Greenlee recorded an 89-yard kickoff return for a TD, helping CCHS record its 11th-consecutive win vs. Lima Senior. All but two of Central Catholic’s wins during this stretch vs. the Spartans have been by at least 30 points.
The Fighting Irish will return to the field against Oregon Clay (2-4, 0-3 TRAC) on Friday, Oct. 1. The opening kick against the Eagles is scheduled for 7 pm at Clay Memorial Stadium. In conjunction with next Friday’s matchup, Clay will host BCSN Real Men Wear Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
