Football Commences 2024 Season vs. Findlay on Friday at Home
The Central Catholic football team will kick off its 2024 campaign against Findlay on Friday, August 23. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Gallagher Stadium. Please click HERE for a complete list of Game Day Information, including directions, tickets, and parking.
Under the direction of 25th-year Head Coach Greg Dempsey, the Scarlet & Gray will be led this fall by senior captains – QB Isaiah Fox, RB Tyler Morgan, and TE Dominic Spinazze II.
Last fall, CCHS steamrolled its way to a 47-14 season-opening victory vs. the Trojans at JC Donnell Stadium. The Fighting Irish took advantage of 4 touchdowns from Tyler Morgan and 2 by Marquan Braswell to help propel them to their 11th-straight win in the series. Morgan found the end zone on runs covering, 7, 2, 5, and 13 yards vs. Findlay, while Braswell scored on scampers from 3 and 6 yards, respectively. Morgan finished with 113 yards on the ground, compared to a game-high 124 yards from Braswell. As a team, CCHS posted 328 rushing yards.
Central Catholic was recently picked to successfully defend its Central Division championship in the Catholic High School League (CHSL) in a vote by the conference’s head coaches. CCHS was tabbed to finish 1st in the 6-team division for a 2nd-consecutive year. The CHSL, which was founded in 1926, is the largest Catholic high school league in the United States with 32 private-school members from around southeastern Michigan and Toledo’s 5 Catholic high schools.
The Fighting Irish are coming off a historic 2023 campaign that saw them capture their 6th OHSAA state championship in program history (1962, 2005, ‘12, ‘14, ’22, ‘23). CCHS, which is currently riding a school-record 31-consecutive wins, posted a perfect 16-0 overall ledger and a 6-0 mark in its 1st year in the CHSL. They outscored their 6-league opponents by a whopping 31.8 points per contest (41.5-9.7).
Central Catholic will face a Findlay team that posted an 8-3 record in 2023 and earned a share of the Northern Lakes League's Buckeye Division title.
The Trojans will be led by senior QB Ryan Montgomery, who was named 1st-team Division I All-Ohio, All NLL Buckeye, All-District, and The Blade's 2023 Player of the Year. Last season, Montgomery was 258 of 376 passing for 3,377 yards and 38 touchdowns and rushed for 257 yards and 10 scores.

Central Catholic returns to the gridiron against rival Whitmer on Friday, August 30 at 7 p.m. at home. CCHS plans to honor a pair of veterans and alumni as part of Military Appreciation Night between the 3rd and 4th quarters.
