Last fall, CCHS steamrolled its way to a 47-14 season-opening victory vs. the Trojans at JC Donnell Stadium.  The Fighting Irish took advantage of 4 touchdowns from Tyler Morgan and 2 by Marquan Braswell to help propel them to their 11th-straight win in the series.  Morgan found the end zone on runs covering, 7, 2, 5, and 13 yards vs. Findlay, while Braswell scored on scampers from 3 and 6 yards, respectively. Morgan finished with 113 yards on the ground, compared to a game-high 124 yards from Braswell.  As a team, CCHS posted 328 rushing yards.

Central Catholic was recently picked to successfully defend its Central Division championship in the Catholic High School League (CHSL) in a vote by the conference’s head coaches.  CCHS was tabbed to finish 1st in the 6-team division for a 2nd-consecutive year.  The CHSL, which was founded in 1926, is the largest Catholic high school league in the United States with 32 private-school members from around southeastern Michigan and Toledo’s 5 Catholic high schools.

The Fighting Irish are coming off a historic 2023 campaign that saw them capture their 6th OHSAA state championship in program history (1962, 2005, ‘12, ‘14, ’22, ‘23).  CCHS, which is currently riding a school-record 31-consecutive wins, posted a perfect 16-0 overall ledger and a 6-0 mark in its 1st year in the CHSL.  They outscored their 6-league opponents by a whopping 31.8 points per contest (41.5-9.7).

Central Catholic will face a Findlay team that posted an 8-3 record in 2023 and earned a share of the Northern Lakes League's Buckeye Division title.

The Trojans will be led by senior QB Ryan Montgomery, who was named 1st-team Division I All-Ohio, All NLL Buckeye, All-District, and The Blade's 2023 Player of the Year.  Last season, Montgomery was 258 of 376 passing for 3,377 yards and 38 touchdowns and rushed for 257 yards and 10 scores.
