Football Defeats Findlay in Season Opener 54-21

The Central Catholic football team secured a hard-fought 54-21 victory against Findlay (0-1) on Friday at Gallagher Stadium. With the season-opening home win, CCHS improves to 1-0 on the year.

The 2-time reigning state champion Fighting Irish benefitted from a strong running game to help extend their school-record winning streak to 32-consecutive games.  Senior RB Tyler Morgan led the way with 141 yards and 2 TDS on the ground, while junior RB Anthony Sylvester was credited with 99 yards and 3 rushing TDs.

Senior QB Isaiah Fox also made his 1st start under center for the Scarlet & Gray, completing an efficient 16-of-19 passes for 211 yards and 2 TDs.

For the game, Central Catholic topped Findlay 517-224 in total offense.

Central Catholic returns to the gridiron against rival Whitmer next Friday, August 30 at 7 p.m. at home.  CCHS plans to honor a pair of veterans and alumni as part of Military Appreciation Night between the 3rd and 4th quarters.
