Football Hosts Rival Whitmer on Friday as Part of Military Appreciation Night
The Central Catholic football team will host rival Whitmer (1-0) on Friday, Aug. 30 for a non-conference showdown. The opening kick against the Panthers will be 7 p.m. at Gallagher Stadium.

In conjunction with Friday’s contest, CCHS will honor a pair of veterans and alumni as part of Military Appreciation Night between the 3rd and 4th quarters.
The Scarlet & Gray (1-0) is coming off a 54-21 season-opening victory vs. Findlay (0-1) this past Friday at home. The 2-time reigning state champion Fighting Irish benefitted from a strong running game to help extend their school-record winning streak to 32-consecutive games. Senior RB Tyler Morgan led the way with 141 yards and 2 TDS on the ground, while junior RB Anthony Sylvester was credited with 99 yards and 3 rushing TDs.
Senior QB Isaiah Fox also made his 1st start under center for Central Catholic, completing an efficient 16-of-19 passes for 211 yards and 2 TDs.
For the game, Central Catholic topped Findlay 517-224 in total offense.
CCHS will be looking for its 6th-straight victory vs. rival Whitmer and 10th in the last 11 overall matchups in the series.
Last fall, Central Catholic registered a 35-8 triumph against the Panthers at Whitmer Memorial Stadium. CCHS jumped out to a 21-0 lead after the opening 12 minutes on the strength of 3 TD passes from QB Terry Collins III and never looked back.
Whitmer commenced its 2024 campaign with a 42-14 home win against Dublin Coffman. Panthers’ QB Brady Ford finished 12-of-16 for 230 yards and 2 TDs vs. the Shamrocks. RB Jaden Jones also had 60 yards and 2 TDs on 11 carries, while Joey Morales was credited with a 5-yard score on the ground & an 81-yard TD catch.

Central Catholic returns to the gridiron vs. Detroit Catholic Central next Friday, September 6 at 7 p.m. for its Catholic High School League opener at Fr. Richard Elmer Stadium. Last fall, CCHS tallied a 42-21 home victory vs. DCC in its CHSL debut. 1st-team All-Ohio RB Marquan Braswell led Central Catholic with 156 yards on the ground on 22 carries, including a 6-yard TD run. Morgan also had a solid effort rushing the ball, finishing with 95 yards on 18 attempts, scoring on runs of 1, 5, and 18 yards.
