Get to Know CCHS Staffulty Member - Anna Walker

Anna Walker is Central Catholic’s new campus minister.  She plans retreats for students and staffulty, and she works with the campus ministry student core team to plan Masses and prayer services.  She also identifies service opportunities for students and tracks their service hours.  More importantly, Anna fosters a space where people can grow in their relationship with God and understand that they have a purpose.

Anna graduated from Catholic Central High School in Steubenville.  She earned a bachelor’s degree in communication with a concentration in film studies from Franciscan University in 2022.  She participated in an 11-month mission in Australia where she conducted youth retreats and faith activities.  After that experience, she prayed about what she should do next, and she felt it was God’s calling to continue her faith ministry.

“Throughout college, I could see myself doing missions and retreats,” Anna said.  “In high school, I found out myself that God has a plan for me and that I have a purpose.  Knowing that helped me get through high school.  I wanted to help others feel that way and get through high school the way I was helped, and that inspired me to go on the mission and then to come to Central Catholic.  I want to help people know they are completely worthy of love and have purpose and value.

“When I met with Principal Morgan Connors, it was great the way she spoke about students and the school, and she was kind and excited.  Campus ministry is a huge focus at Central Catholic.  I also visited with students, and the way they talked about Central Catholic and how fun and kind they are was great.  The way that the teachers talk about their students, you can tell how much they really care about students’ mental health and their future.  The teachers don’t put students in a box, and they have so much love for the students, it was an atmosphere I really wanted to be a part of.  I also prayed about it and felt at peace with the decision to come and work at CCHS.”

Outside of work, Anna enjoys going to parks and beaches, reading, hiking, kayaking, watching TV, chatting with people, thrifting clothes, painting, pottery, exploring new places, and trying new things.  Someday she plans to use her film studies degree, but for now she knows Central Catholic is the right place for her to be.
