Football Posts Dominating Win vs. Findlay in TRAC Opener, 41-6

The Central Catholic football team secured a dominating 41-6 victory against Findlay on Friday in its Three Rivers Athletic Conference opener in Gallagher Stadium. With the impressive win, the Fighting Irish improve to 2-2 overall, 1-0 in the TRAC.

CCHS, which is aiming for a fourth-straight league championship, amassed 351 yards of total offense, with 250 passing and 111 rushing. The Scarlet & Gray has now nine-straight matchups against the Trojans (2-2).

Junior QB Ty'Waun Clark accounted for a season-high four touchdowns in tonight’s conference opener, three passing and one rushing. Clark completed an efficient 16 of 19 passes for 231 yards, his second-highest total this fall. Over the last two games, the left-handed signal caller is 34-of-42 passing for 467 yards with five TDs.

Clark opened the game with a 62-yard TD strike to senior WR Sam Lee and the Scarlet & Gray never looked back. The duo of Clark and Lee hooked up again on CCHS’s next possession, this time from 31 yards out, to give the home team a double-digit advantage. Lee, who finished with four catches for a season-best 119 yards, has now found the end zone in each of the last three contests.

Junior WR Javon Murphy added a game-high seven catches for 89 yards, while senior RB Josh Watson had a game-high 62 rushing yards.

Central Catholic was also stout defensively against Findlay, holding the visitors to just 200 total yards (145 rushing and 55 passing).

The Fighting Irish will return to the field against arch-rival St. John’s Jesuit (2-1) on Friday, Sept. 17. The opening kick against the Titans is scheduled for 7 pm at Lyden Field.
