Girls’ Basketball Boasts League-High Seven All-TRAC Honorees; Brinn Hunt Named TRAC Player of the Year
Seven members of the Central Catholic girls’ basketball team earned All-TRAC honors, the Three Rivers Athletic Conference office recently announced. The Fighting Irish’s seven honorees are the most in the league.
CCHS is currently a perfect 13-0 ledger in the TRAC and will conclude its regular season at arch-rival Notre Dame this evening at 7:30 pm.
The Scarlet & Gray recently secured its first outright conference title in girls’ basketball, and its first since sharing TRAC championships with NDA during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.
Highlighting Central Catholic’s seven honorees is senior Brinn Hunt, who was named the TRAC Player of the Year. Hunt is earning all-league recognition for a third-consecutive season, collecting honorable mention accolades the last two years. Joining Hunt on the first team is sophomore Brooklyn Vaughn.
Three Fighting Irish also garnered second-team honors – junior Mary Ellis, sophomore Emily Baer and sophomore Corniya Clay, while two others received honorable mention accolades – senior Anabelle Gogol and senior Jen Pryer. Ellis and Pryer are registering all-conference honors for a second time.
Central Catholic, which is ranked No. 6 in this week’s Associated Press Division II state poll, will be the No. 1 seed in the sectional tourney draw in the Paulding District for the upcoming Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) State Tournament. The Fighting Irish will play the winner of Maumee-Celina on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 5:30 pm at Ayersville High School.
