Girls’ Basketball Dismantles Regina on Senior Night at Home, 57-30
The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team wrapped up its regular season with an emphatic 57-30 victory against Regina on Wednesday in the Sullivan Center. With the “Senior Night” victory, CCHS improves to 13-6 overall, 8-1 in the Catholic High School League.
The Fighting Irish had 4 players tally at least 6 points vs. the Lady Saddlelites, helping them record their 6th win in the last 7 games.
Senior Corniya Clay paced the Scarlet & Gray with a game-high 19 points, while classmate Brooklyn Vaughn had 15 points and a season-high 19 rebounds to post her 9th double-double this season.
The Scarlet & Gray also benefited from 6 points each by sophomores Ava Pietras and Serinity Bolden to provide a balanced attack in the 27-point home win.
Ella Sikorski led the Lady Saddlelites with 10 points.
Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team sustained a 28-19 loss against Regina, while the junior varsity squad secured a 35-34 home triumph.
Central Catholic will return to the court against rival St. Ursula Academy on Saturday, February 10 in the quarterfinals of the CHSL Tournament at 2 p.m. on the campus of Brother Rice. The Fighting Irish swept the regular-season series vs. the Arrows, defeating them 52-15 at home (December 16) and most recently 53-33 on the road (January 17).
