Girls’ Basketball Falls Short vs. Whitmer on Road, 50-36

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team dropped a 50-36 decision against Whitmer on Monday in the Whitmer Fieldhouse.  With the road loss, the Fighting Irish fall to 3-10 on the season.

CCHS was outscored 14-2 in the pivotal 4th quarter vs. the host Panthers to sustain its 2nd-straight loss.

Junior Nina Stevens led the Scarlet & Gray with 11 points. Stevens has now paced the team in scoring in each of the last 4 games.

Junior Serinity Bolden also contributed 8 points in Monday’s non-conference matchup.

Madison Finch paced the Panthers (7-10) with a game-high 21 points, while Olivia Welch had 11 points.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS junior varsity team registered a 38-26 victory vs. Whitmer on the road.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Lumen Christi Catholic on Wednesday, January 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sullivan Center.  Tickets for Wednesday’s CHSL matchup can be purchased at bit.ly/48e04CE.  In conjunction with Wednesday’s game, Head Coach Clifton Hodges & the Fighting Irish are inviting kindergarten - 8th graders to “Girls’ Basketball Night” on Cherry Street.  Girls' teams are encouraged to wear their respective jerseys & will get FREE admission to the contest.  Girls’ basketball coaches will also receive FREE admission.  To lock in the FREE tickets, please contact Director of Athletics Greg Dempsey at gdempsey@centralcatholic.org.
