Girls’ Basketball Stomps No. 5 Seed Port Clinton in Division II District Semifinals, 60-33

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team hammered No. 5 seed Port Clinton, 60-33, in the Division II district semifinals on Thursday in the John Brueggemeier Gymnasium on the campus of Old Fort High School. With the impressive postseason triumph, CCHS improves to 18-7 on the season.

The No. 6 seed Fighting Irish will return to the hardwood against No. 2 seed Bellevue in the district finals of Northwest 2 District – Old Fort of the OHSAA State Tournament on Saturday, March 2 at 6 p.m. at Old Fort. Tickets are currently available at www.ohsaa.org/tickets.

Senior Brooklyn Vaughn paced the Scarlet & Gray with 17 points vs. the Redskins, followed closely by sophomore Ava Pietras and senior Corniya Clay with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Olivia Spencer and Eneyonna Buckley each put in 10 points to lead Port Clinton (16-8).
