Girls’ Basketball Repeats as TRAC Champion Following 50-38 Home Triumph vs. Notre Dame Academy

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team defeated rival Notre Dame Academy 50-38 on Thursday in the Sullivan Center to repeat as Three Rivers Athletic Conference champions in the league’s final season. With the double-digit home win, CCHS improves to 18-2 overall, 12-1 in the TRAC.

Junior Corniya Clay paced the state-ranked Fighting Irish with a game-high 15 points.

Classmate Brooklyn Vaughn added 12 points and a contest-best 10 caroms to post yet another double-double.

Dekota Smith led the visiting Eagles with 14 points.

Along with Thursday’s triumph, CCHS swept the regular-season series vs. NDA. Back on Jan. 5, Central Catholic defeated the Eagles, 59-52, on the road.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team dropped a 25-23 decision against Notre Dame Academy, while the junior varsity squad claimed a 50-36 home victory. 

Ranked No. 2 in Division II state poll for the 3rd-straight week, Central Catholic returns to the hardwood against Trotwood-Madison on Saturday, Feb. 4.
