Girls’ Basketball Runs Away from Rival St. Ursula Academy on Road, 53-33

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team remained unbeaten in Catholic High School League play following a 53-33 win against St. Ursula Academy on Wednesday in the SUA Fieldhouse. With the road victory, CCHS improves to 7-4 overall, 4-0 in the CHSL.

Senior Corniya Clay led the Fighting Irish with 19 points, helping the Scarlet & Gray sweep the regular-season series vs. SUA. Back on December 16, Central Catholic defeated St. Ursula Academy, 52-15, at home. 

CCHS also benefited from 11 points by sophomore Marissa Justen and 8 points from classmate Ava Pietras. In total, Central Catholic had 5 players tally at least 5 points in the 30-point victory.

The Arrows were paced by Carlee Wiczynski with a game-high 20 points.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team registered a 30-22 victory against SUA, while the junior varsity squad secured a 35-26 road triumph.

Central Catholic will return to the court at Father Gabriel Richard on Saturday, January 20 at 5 p.m.
