Mallory Lenhart Named Girls’ Volleyball Head Coach
Mallory Lenhart has been named the girls’ volleyball head coach at Central Catholic High School, Director of Athletics Greg Dempsey recently announced. She has been an assistant varsity coach in the CCHS volleyball program for the past 2 years, and she also coaches at Premier Volleyball Academy. She is in her 2nd year of teaching Freshman World Studies and Sophomore US History at Central Catholic.
“We are very excited for Mallory to lead our volleyball program,” Dempsey said. “Mallory played high school volleyball at a championship level, played volleyball at the collegiate level, coaches at an elite travel volleyball club, and has been a major force in rebuilding our program. Mallory is the perfect fit to continue building the Central Catholic program. She has all the experience and tools to develop our student-athletes to become a championship team as well as champion individuals. Central Catholic is blessed to have Mallory as a teacher and now as our girls’ volleyball head coach.”
Lenhart has played volleyball since the age of 6. Her mother was a college volleyball player and inspired Mallory and her sister to play. Lenhart played high school volleyball at Bedford, making it to the state semifinals in her senior year. She also played club volleyball at Premier Volleyball Academy in Maumee. She attended Walsh University on a volleyball scholarship, and her team was the conference champion her freshman year. She transferred and played her final 2 years of collegiate volleyball at Lourdes University.
Lenhart began coaching club volleyball at Premier Volleyball Academy during her junior year of college. She was the assistant varsity coach at Whitmer High School in 2016. She has also coached club volleyball teams at Milwaukee Sting, Toledo Volleyball Club, and Lynchburg Volleyball Academy, and 1 year at the collegiate level at the University of Lynchburg.
“I wanted to be the Central Catholic volleyball head coach because I love the game and I’m so excited to see it growing in Toledo!” Lenhart said. “I know that Central Catholic has so much to offer its students, and I am eager to continue developing the volleyball program. I truly believe we have a great bunch of girls that are willing to work hard and are ready to achieve greatness. During my own club volleyball career, I was coached by one of the previous Central Catholic coaches, Melissa Belcher, who made a huge impact on my life. I hope to honor her legacy by reigniting a culture of excellence at the home of the Irish.”
Lenhart is a graduate of Bedford High School, and she has a bachelor’s degree from Lourdes University and a master’s degree in education from The University of Toledo.
