Mary Ellis Signs National Letter of Intent with Findlay

Central Catholic girls’ track & field runner Mary Ellis was acknowledged for her achievements and pledge to continue her education and athletic career at the collegiate level on Tuesday in front of family, friends, and teammates on campus. Ellis signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Findlay.

This past spring, Ellis ran the 3rd leg of the victorious 4×200-meter relay & finished 4th individually in the 400-meter dash at the 2022 OHSAA Division II Track & Field State Championships. The 2022-23 CCHS Homecoming Queen, she played an integral role in the Fighting Irish placing 4th as a team at the 2-day event in Columbus.

In addition to her track laurels, Ellis excelled on the hardwood for CCHS. She was named 2nd-team All-TRAC and honorable mention All-Northwest Ohio District Division II during the 2021-22 season. As a team, Central Catholic finished with a 24-2 overall record, including a perfect 14-0 ledger in the TRAC. The Scarlet & Gray captured its first outright conference championship and advanced to the regional semifinal of the OHSAA Division II State Tournament.
