Nine Boys’ Tennis Players Garner Academic All-TRAC Accolades

Nine members of the Central Catholic boys’ tennis team have been named to the Academic All-Three Rivers Athletic squad, the league office recently announced.

Senior Katherine Lach, senior Brandon Schmakel, senior Gabrielle Sensenstein, senior Matthew Webb, junior Donovan Green, junior Noah Rife, sophomore Jack Cowell, sophomore Jack Dempsey, and sophomore Mark Mackowiak were each selected to the conference’s all-academic squad. Webb is garnering academic all-league recognition for the second-straight year.

The Academic All-TRAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have lettered and maintained at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Freshmen are not eligible for this postseason award.

This spring, the Fighting Irish finished sixth at the TRAC Championship. Individually, Webb was named second-team all-league, while senior Joe Minicozzi and Sensenstein earned honorable mention laurels. As a team, CCHS posted a 4-11 overall record, 2-4 in the TRAC.
