Quintet of Girls’ Basketball Players Receive All-TRAC Recognition

Five members of the state ranked Central Catholic girls’ basketball program have been named to the All-Three Rivers Athletic Conference Team. Ranked No. 3 in the final Associated Press Division II state poll, CCHS’s 5 honorees tied for the most in the league with Fremont Ross. In addition, Head Coach Ericka Haney was tabbed the TRAC Coach of the Year.

The Fighting Irish (22-2) posted a 13-1 mark in the final season of the TRAC, capturing a 2nd-straight conference championship.

Highlighting the Scarlet & Gray’s selections was junior Brooklyn Vaughn, who was named co-Player of the Year. A 2-time 1st-team all-league selection, Vaughn shared POY accolades with Fremont Ross’ Destiny Robinson.

Junior Corniya Clay joined Vaughn on the 1st team, while senior Ja’Lynne Hitt-Swartz collected 2nd-team honors, and senior Mary Ellis and senior Jada Dames received honorable mention laurels. The duo of Clay and Ellis earned all-league status for the 2nd-straight year.
