Boys’ Basketball Drops 43-41 Decision vs. Rival St. Francis de Sales in Home Opener

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team sustained a 43-41 loss vs. rival St. Francis de Sales on Friday in the Sullivan Center. With the tough loss, the Fighting Irish fall to 1-1 on the season, 0-1 in the Catholic High School League (CHSL).

CCHS had a chance to win its home opener in the waning moments of regulation, but a 3-point shot was blocked as time expired.

Freshman Isaiah Mack-Russell paced the Scarlet & Gray with 12 points, followed closely by senior Isaiah Brenneman with 11 points.

Raheem Brown and Vince Ferguson led the Knights (4-1, 1-1 CHSL) with 12 points each, while Jameson Heck added 10 points.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team suffered a 41-27 setback vs. St. Francis de Sales, while the junior varsity squad claimed a 42-33 home victory.  

CCHS will return to the court against Cincinnati Princeton on Sunday, Dec. 17 at the Coach Q Classic at 4:45 p.m. at Lima Senior High School.
