Central Catholic Dominates Rival St. Ursula Academy at Home, 52-15

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team claimed a dominating 52-15 victory vs. rival St. Ursula Academy on Saturday in the Sullivan Center. With the emphatic 37-point home win, the Fighting Irish improve to 3-2 on the season, 1-0 in the Catholic High School League (CHSL).  

Senior Corniya Clay paced the Scarlet & Gray with 16 points and 3 steals, followed by classmate Brooklyn Vaughn with 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.  

The Fighting Irish also benefited from 8 points by sophomore Marissa Justen and 9 caroms from senior Sophia Farrugia to help snap a mini 2-game losing skid.

Earlier in the day, the CCHS freshman team secured a 28-20 victory against the Arrows, while the junior varsity squad claimed a 40-21 triumph.  

CCHS will return to the court against Divine Child on Friday, Dec. 22 at 7 p.m.
