Wrestling Team Excels at Division II Sectional Championship

The Central Catholic wrestling team competed in the Division II Sectional Championship on Saturday at Sandusky High School. Four CCHS grapplers placed in the Top 4 at the event, securing a spot in the upcoming District Championship.

Highlighting the Fighting Irish’s efforts was a 1st-place finish by junior Michael Cannings II at 285 pounds. A week ago, Cannings captured 1st place at the TRAC Championship.

In addition, sophomore Emilio Herrera placed 3rd at 106 pounds at the 1-day event, while senior Andrew-Carter Price and junior Austin Guerra finished 4th at 175 and 165 pounds, respectively.

Central Catholic will return to the mat for the District Championship on Friday, March 3 at Norwalk High School at 9 am.
